Spend a Day with Joe and Kathleen
at The Soul of a Horse Headquarters
You Design the Agenda
Are you a neophyte, a rank beginner like Joe and Kathleen were just a few short years ago?
Would you like to understand how they crammed so much knowledge and
understanding into such a short time?
Do you have years of experience but don't understand this whole relationship thing about giving
your horse the choice of whether or not to be in relationship with you?
Would you like to walk the Camp's natural pasture, hang out with Cash and the herd, grasping
every nuance of why there hasn't been a vet call for any one of them since the herd began
spending 24/7 on this rocky hillside?
Or watch the way these barefoot creatures with rock solid hooves move up and down this mountain setting.
Want to talk diet and nutrition? See how Joe and Kathleen feed?
Would you like to get deeply into the concepts that drive the Camps? Fully understand
why most "domestic" horses are being kept and cared for in a manner that
is diametrically contradictory to their genetic design.
Whatever knowledge or experience you would like to walk away with
is up to you. You design the agenda.
You tell us why you're coming
and what you hope to gain from the day and
Joe and Kathleen will be all yours.
This is not a clinic with a planned presentation. It's your chance to see, feel, experience exactly
what the Camps have learned, how they discovered it, why they do what they do, and why they
believe the way they do. Ask Kathleen about her fears and how she overcame them. Ask her
to show you
how she did it. Ask Joe to be quiet and let Kathleen talk :) But be
prepared to cram a lot into your brain in a short period of time. Maybe bring
a tape recorder. Definitely a camera.
See how bitless or even a plain rope halter can work better than a bit. Ask Joe
to demonstrate Monty Roberts' Join-Up with Cash. See how they learned
to apply
the herd language and how they learned the
language in the first place.
Lunch and dinner is included. Sit around the table and talk about the day. Ask forgotten
questions. Enjoy the company of two very devoted folks when it comes to
treating your horses like living, breathing beings, not motorcycles.
Share the costs. Lower the per-person rate by
bringing a friend, or two (limit: a total of four per day)
Spend the night before or after.
Joe and Kathleen have a small (shall we say extremely rustic) guest
house
with one double bed and no door on the "loo".
This is not a riding clinic
If your issues are about learning to ride better and finding your seat (Joe
and Kathleen are still looking for theirs :) find a good riding instructor or clinician
who can break through walls for you... always knowing, however, that mileage on
the horse is the best medicine. As Clinton Anderson says sore seats
and wet saddle
blankets are the best tickets.
